Thanksgiving

We went to Colorado to visit my parents for Thanksgiving. We were originally planning on going during Christmas, but Emily will be too big to travel then, so we changed our plans to go during Thanksgiving instead. It snowed after we got there and we went sledding for the first time in a long time. It was very fun! My brother Matthew came with us and tried out his new skis.

Me, Emily, and Matt out sledding

I played a lot of raquetball with my dad & Matthew. That was a lot of fun. It reminded me of how out of shape I am...I guess it's time to go back to the gym. My dad can beat me without having to try very hard at all, but I'm going to practice and next time he won't know what hit him!

Me and Emily went to Casa Bonita while we were in Denver. It's known for it's not so great food, but pretty good entertainment. They have cliff divers, fire jugglers, etc. It made for a nice date, and a fun way to spend time with Eric & Monica (my brother & sister in law).

Recent Happenings

Us at Ipanema (notice the guy in the background with the knives? HAHA!!! We didn't even know he was doing that until we got home and put the pic on the computer.)

It's been awhile since we've updated, so here's the recent happenings in the Lemmon family. Most recently, we went a a fun date to Seattle. My favorite restaurant in Utah is Tucanos, a Brazillian buffet style place that is seriously delicious, but we couldn't find a similar place here in Seattle. Until now! Ben found Ipanema in downtown Seattle, and surprised me by taking me there today. It was really really yummy, and really fun. And the Seattle Art Museum was across the street, so we went there for a couple hours afterwards. Neither one of us had been there before, and it was nice. Huge, too. It was cool how they had so many different cultural exhibits. African, Japanese, Mesoamerican, Native American, and lots of different American artists too. The variety made it really interesting.

I was attempting to pose like the statue, but got distracted by the museum lady who told me not to take pictures. Oops!

Last Saturday Stephanie Roth threw me an awesome baby shower. It was lots of fun to get together with lots of friends from church and talk and eat. Yum... we had three types of fondue, a whilte chocolate, milk chocolate, and monterey jack cheese. Everyone was so nice, and now we have all these beautiful baby clothes and nursery things. It's nice to have more of those things, now her room is all cute and decorated and girly, and I love just going in there to look at it all, and imagine holding Lily... she's not coming fast enough!

However, I did get a new niece this week! My sister-in law Andy was due November 5th, and didn't go into labor until the 12th, and gave birth to Rachel Alexandra on the 13th. She's completely adorable, and Dan and Andy are very happy. :) Ben and went to see them in the hospital, and she was so tiny, but at the same time, I was holding her and looking at her and thinking, "This fits in my belly??" It's so weird. But very exciting. I can't wait till Lily comes!

So for Thanksgiving Ben and I are going to Colorado for Thanksgiving to be with his parents. We're both pretty excited. We haven't been to their place since we got married. We were planning on going up there for Christmas, but with my pregnancy I'll be too far along to fly at that point, which is really a bummer because all the other brothers and sisters are going to be there this year. But Thanksgiving will be nice, and we get to stay there for a whole week. I'm sure we'll blog about that when we get back. Happy Thanksgiving!

Halloween Costumes

The Not-So-Holy Couple :)

So we finally decided what we wanted to be for Halloween: a priest and a pregnant nun - pregnancy already included! It was lots of fun. We got lots of comments on the ensemble during the church Trunk-or-Treat. Slightly scandelous, but that's ok.

After the trunk or treat we went home with some candy left, expecting to get a least a few trick-or-treaters, but we didn't get a single one. We ended up eating the candy ourselves while we watched "Next," a very good movie with a very bad ending. All in all a fun night.

28 weeks

Emily had her 4th ultrasound the other day and Lily is doing well. She's in the 32nd percentile for weight so they're a lot less worried, but they're still going to do monthly ultrasounds to check on her. The ultrasoundologist (I know that's not the real word, but I'm too lazy to look up the real word) turned on the 3D mode for a little while and that was really cool to see. The pictures are so much clearer there.

Genetically Modified Fish

So we lost a few fish lately (we're hoping it's from old age, but it's impossible to tell with fish), so we went to the pet store the other day, and saw these really bright (neon bright) fish, and decided to get some of those. We got 3 of them (1 orange, and 2 red), and 1 died in the bag on the way home, and 1 died later that night. Luckily they have an exchange policy if they die within 15 days, so we got two new ones. Then one of them decided to get aggressive and kill another one. So we took back the dead fish and the overly aggressive fish and for the time being have a happy, alive community of fish. So we come to find out that they're genetically altered fish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glofish). Wierd, huh? They're cool looking and I hope they last and stop killing each other (they aren't supposed to be aggresive).

On a separate topic...I decided to be cute and buy some lilies for Emily and she absolutely loves them. They're all bloomed now and way pretty and they make the whole house smell great.

Jack-O-Lantern Fun

Ben's is the Stormtrooper, while I just made something up.

This was our Family Home Evening last night. I was really excited when Ben suggested we do this, and we both had a lot of fun, first picking out the pumpkins and then carving them. I took forever to come up with how I wanted to carve my pumkin, while Ben found something he liked right away. He was very excited about doing a Star Wars pumpkin and at first couldn't decide between Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper. I thought both would be really hard, but he chose the Stormtrooper and had a lot of fun carving it out. I looked through lots of templates, but in the end just made something up. I was going for scary, but I don't know how scary it actually is. We started at the same time, and even though mine was simpler, Ben still finished before me. We both had a really good time, and are very proud of the results.

Sitting by our respective pumpkins.

Ben and I are trying to come up with costumes for a friends Halloween Party that's coming up in less than two weeks. Any ideas? I wanted to be a Cheerleader, and Ben to be a Football player, but that's proving very hard to come by, at least within our budget. My mom suggested I could be a big Bumblebee, and Ben could be Winnie the Pooh dressed as a little black rain cloud... I'll probably look into that cuz that could be really cute. Anyone have any other ideas?

Pregnancy update

So this will be short, but I wanted to update on how Lily is doing. I had my third ultrasound yesterday, and they were checking to see if she had grown sufficiently that we could stop being worried. The first ultrasound she was a little small, in the 25th percentile, and the second one she was in the 17th percentile. So they upped the folic acid they want me to take, told me to have two baby aspirin a day, and told me to eat 120 grams of protien instead of 80. So not fun, but I managed it for two weeks and went back, and it really made a difference. Lily is now in the 37th percentile!! Yay! I was really worried, because they told me if she went under the 10th percentile, there was a good chance I wouldn't carry to term, and now there is much less chance of that. So Lily is doing better, and I'm feeling justified for all the protien I had to make myself eat. Life is good!

Also, my brother got his mission call yesterday! He's going to the Mexico, Tijuana mission, and reports to the MTC on Jan. 30th. Quite a ways away, but he's pretty excited. At least in all probability he'll get to see Lily before he leaves, as her due date is the 20th. So that's nice, beacuse I was kind of sad before when I thought that he would leave before she was born. Now she just better not be late!

And so it begins...

Well this is our first blog post so we'll throw in a few random things. So Emily's now over 5 months pregnant and we're already impatient. But look at that cute belly.

Emily showing off her growing belly (23 weeks)
She's got her 3rd ultrasound tomorrow (if you haven't heard yet, it's a girl!). We're both really excited with all the baby stuff and we've already painted the nursery, pink of course. And we have the crib and changing table we bought on eBay. We registered at Babies'R'us a couple weeks ago, and we still have to make our way to Target and register there. Baby stuff is so expensive...I'm all for going to Goodwill and DI!

Lily's 1st ultrasound (17 weeks)

Lily's room. We painted it pink with a white stripe across the middle.

Me and Emily are both really enjoying cooking lately. We're trying out new recipes and refining old ones, it's really fun, and yummy too! I've been trying to remember my mom's recipes from when I was younger and teach them to Em so she can make them too. Those meals always bring back good memories (cheesy, I know). Emily loves trying the new stuff on allrecipes.com and we've found some good ones there like pulled pork and white chocolate macadamia nut cookies. Of course, Emily's latest pregnant craving is Kit-Kats and she eats like 6 small ones a day. So pretty much right now we're both gaining weight, Emily gets to blame it on the baby but I have no excuse.

We'll try and keep up on the posts & pictures, but we're not promising anything.
